my personal style
Modern Farmhouse
The modern farmhouse style first became popular following Chip and Joanna Gaines' debut on HGTV in 2013. This style can easily be identified by a relaxed farmhouse feeling emphasized with smooth lines, a neutral color palette, exposed wood, and glossy accents.
CLEAN LINES
Throughout these designs, unbroken and uninterrupted lines can be spotted in nearly every corner. Including clean lines in a design will help unify a room through principals of balance and create a complete look.
BRIGHT AND AIRY
Utilizing a light color palette, such as white and tan, will create an airy atmosphere that allows light to bounce off all walls. Typically, an array of windows are designed to allow transparency and maximize natural lighting.
NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE
Light grey, beiges, and white encompass all areas of interior surfaces while darker blues and greens can act as accent colors to balance light and dark.
EXPOSED WARM WOOD
Although darker grey wood can be used, I prefer warmer toned woods for interiors. Wood can be exposed in several areas, such as ceiling beams or entire walls, and can create a unique character and display a hint of antiquity amongst modern features.
LIVELY PLANTS
Plants are subtle decor elements that can spruce up a room and convey a sense of life. Whether fake or real (I prefer the ladder), plants are always included in my designs and offer several health benefits in addition to their beautiful appearance.
