HANNAH KORSMEYER
INTERIOR DESIGNER
01 about
Growing up on a small family-owned ranch in Colorado, I thought my
career path lied in animals. I entered the University of Wyoming to study
pre-veterinary medicine and even had the experience of a summer
internship at a small animal hospital to support my confidence. However,
after one semester of thorough science classes, I saw my motivation
fading and my perspective altering. I was lacking the creativity that once
surged throughout me in high school. As silly as it sounds, a trip to IKEA
persuaded me to enroll in an introductory design class which helped me
realize my true passion: interior design.

I finally felt free to release my creative thinking and experiment with
different interiors. Since discovering this new path, I frequently bullet
journal and dabble in leatherwork as an additional creative outlet. I find joy in refurbishing antique furniture to give the piece a new life while still preserving it's history. An interior style that represents me best is modern
farmhouse design. The clean, neutral color palette speaks for my ability to balance work and pleasure through tidy organization and time management while exposed warm woods symbolize my raw personality and capability to weather on. What I love most about this style is how designers are able to seamlessly combine modern design elements and timeless relics to create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.

Interior designers can influence people’s behavior and wellbeing by implementing designs that foster relationships, innovation, and health. This statement inspires me to continuously improve my work and further expand my critical thinking skills. Although it can sometimes be discouraging to face design obstacles and failure, I find that this is crucial to the design process to advance personal growth. With each design completed, I strive to incorporate sustainable aspects to reflect environmentally friendly materials and practices. Soft and muted color palettes encase my projects to convey relaxing settings while unique yet subtle design elements are woven throughout floor plans.

Throughout my four years as a design student, I feel I have built an exceptional skill set utilizing 3DS Max, Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Canva and hand rendering. Professional skills I have developed throughout my position as a junior designer include adaptability, organization, prioritization, multitasking, proficient communication, and team leadership. I have recently discovered my love for detailed drafting as this design stage holds such significance; design is truly all in the details. My primary goal as a designer is to create spaces that benefit the wellbeing of my clients, improve the functionality of spaces, produce visually pleasing aesthetics, and to give back to society by practicing sustainable design.
